Please check our school calendar for important dates and events.
Attendance
Attendance is taken daily. Please contact the office for the following reasons:
- If your child will be absent
- If your child arrives late after 8:50 am
- If your child needs to be picked up early
Our district will email an absenteeism letter if your child reaches 5%, 10%, 15%. A “School Engagement Meeting” may be held with parents if your child reaches 15%.
TalkingPoints & Email Communication
Southeast staff will communicate with families through TalkingPoints, a two-way text messaging platform. Teachers and staff can send messages in multiple languages, and families can send and receive messages in their preferred language listed in Infinite Campus. Messages will arrive as text messages on your phone, or you can download the TalkingPoints app if you prefer.
Southeast staff may also communicate through email. Please check your email account regularly. Schools can communicate with families in their preferred language, such as having an interpreter in person or over the phone.
Sickness or Injuries:
If your child is sick or has an appointment, call the school at (319) 688-1071.
If your child becomes sick or injured at school, the nurse will call your emergency numbers listed. You will need to come and get them as soon as possible.
If your child has a medical appointment, please bring a doctor's excuse to the front office. Children cannot come to school if they have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. They must be free of symptoms for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
Breakfast & Lunch Information
Breakfast is served every day from 8:30 am to 8:45 am.

Free/Reduced Lunch application is available each year. If you have questions or need help with the application, please contact the Student and Family Advocate to assist with the application. This application must be filled out yearly or they will be charged full price.
Meeting with your student’s teacher:
Parent/Teacher Conferences are held three times a year. You will be notified by email of the dates and times. There will be an option to have the conference over Zoom or in person for 5 minutes per teacher.
